Parents

Parents work closely with the Centro-Clinton Daycare staff. There are many ways parents get involved, be it volunteering on a field trip, organizing and implementing an activity for the class, or participating on the Board of Directors. Parent feedback on their child's day-to-day activities is encouraged and welcomed!

Clinton Public School

Clinton Public School, an elementary public school that offers classes from JK to Grade 6, is another important partner. Centro-Clinton Daycare benefits from being located in the school in several important ways:

• children who eventually attend JK and SK in the school can be cared for by the Daycare before and after their JK or SK class
• the Daycare has access to school facilities like the gym and playground
• the school's principal and kindergarten teacher are encouraged to attend our Monthly Board of Directors Meetings
• Centro Clinton daycare offers an After School club for children in grades 1 to 6.

In short, then, many parents find that having a daycare under the same roof as an elementary school tends to make for a smooth daycare-to-school and school-to-daycare transition when it is eventually time for their children to spend part of their days in kindergarten, and that this institutional transition can last all the way to Grade 6.

Ontario Coalition for Better Childcare

The Ontario Coalition for Better Childcare is a public awareness organization that advocates for the development of high quality, non-profit child care services in the province of Ontario. In addition, it serves community-based child care programmes and 15 local coalitions across the province. Centro-Clinton Daycare is a member of the coalition.
